Road Trip

Day One Journey – Friday 14 March 2025

Journey Begins:

Overnight Parking: For those traveling from outside Sydney, you can reduce your travel time by parking in the truck area at Twin Servos.

    – Note: It can get noisy due to truck movements and refrigeration units.

Overnight Parking Alternative: If you’d prefer a quieter spot, parking is available at Derubbun Reserve on the Hawkesbury River at Mooney Mooney. Meet the next Day at Twin Servos before heading off in convoy.

Day Two Journey Saturday 15th March 2025

Meet at 10:00 AM at the Twin Servos Wyong (rest stop).

After meeting at the Twin Servos Wyong, the group will head out in convoy toward the Coopernook Hotel

Coopernook Hotel

  – Located on the banks of the Lansdowne River in Coopernook, NSW, the Coopernook Hotel (affectionately called “The Coopy” by locals) has been a community staple for nearly a century.

  – Facilities & Offerings:

    – Bistro: The country-style bistro serves classic pub meals like a roast of the day and chicken schnitzel. It’s perfect for families and those looking for hearty pub food.

    -Accommodation: The hotel offers simple and affordable accommodation with rooms that provide river views, creating a peaceful setting for relaxation. 

    – Camping: For those with self-contained caravans or camper trailers, the hotel offers free camping facilities. While there are no power or water hookups, the camping area is peaceful, located next to the river. It’s recommended to contact the hotel in advance to confirm availability.

  – Overnight Stay: The group will stay overnight at the free camping site near the hotel.

Day Thee Journey – Sunday 16 March 2025

Travel in Convoy approximately 415 KM to Alstonville Showground for overnight Stay.

Alstonville is a town in northern New South Wales, Australia, situated on the Bruxner Highway between Ballina (13 km to the east) and Lismore (19 km to the west). It serves as the service center for the Alstonville Plateau

It is a versatile venue offering both powered and unpowered camping sites suitable for tents, caravans, and motorhomes. Amenities include a camp kitchen, dump point, and disabled facilities. The showground is pet-friendly and within walking distance to local shops, cafes, and a Coles supermarket, making it an ideal base for exploring the hinterland. 

Day Four Journey – Monday 17 March 2025

Travel in Convoy approximately 144KM to Paradise Point boat Ramp and launch our boats.

This boat ramp is in a protected Cove with a pontoon in the middle of two ramps. It also has a sandy beach if needed for beach access. 

It will also be the only location with support from a  Whitley Club Queensland members to assist with launching boats and providing simple directions to the Marina.  Support for launching will be available on Monday 17th March between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM  and retrievals on Friday 21st  March from 9:30 AM until required.

On arrival at Sanctuary Cove you will be guided to your allocated berth. Some boats may be sharing a berth. Make your way to the registration area to receive your welcome bag and Rally Magazine. 

Parking: Sanctuary Cove has made provision for cars and trailers to be parked on their premises free of charge.
